The TOA team is collaborating with a team of scientists at Panama’s national Agricultural Research Institute (Instituto de Investigación Agropecuaria de Panamá, or IDIAP) to implement TOA analysis of integrated pest management and preliminary assessment of payment for environmental services in the Cerro Punta region. These analyses utilized the minimum data modeling approach recently developed by the TOA team (link to paper). The collaboration began with a 1-week TOA training workshop in February 2005, led by Roberto Valdivia. The workshop was attended by six professionals from IDIAP. The results of the analysis were presented at meetings in Panama and Nairobi (links to presentations). Further collaboration is planned to utilize TOA to analyze payments for environmental services in the Panama Canal watershed.
